“Looking Up and Out” at St Mary Magdalene Church, Ickleton Church
Responsibilities
The PCC (Parochial Church Council) of St Mary Magdalene Church Ickleton, wishes to appoint a Heritage Education Consultantto help us deliver a range of activities to improve the interpretation of our medieval wall paintings and engage a wider range of people in visiting our church as a heritage site, with a particular focus on SEND. The post is part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project, entitled, “Looking Up and Out: conserving Ickleton’s wall paintings and building inclusive connections”.
This role is offered on a freelance basis, the post holder being responsible for all tax and insurance. The fee is inclusive of all fees and expenses including travel.
The project involves a programme of repairs to the church building, (which will be led by the architect), and conservation of our outstanding medieval wall paintings along with community outreach and activities to grow the volunteer support base for the church and engage a wider range of people in local heritage.
The Heritage Consultant will work closely with the Heritage Project evaluator as well as the Local task group, which includes the Vicar, Churchwardens, Architect, Wall painting Conservator, and key volunteers
Time will be spent at the church, and other local project sites, as required. Working hours will be agreed based on requirements of the post and flexible in line with development of the project and will involve some evening and weekend working.
So, we need someone with experience of delivering projects supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and of working with a wide variety of people, including school-aged children, with a particular interest in engaging with SEND vistors.
