Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Hartlepool
Salary: £90- £120 per day, depending on experience
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in supporting students across our secondary schools. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement with learning.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to support students who may experience behavioural, emotional, or social challenges. You will help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to students with behavioural needs, both in and out of the classroom.
* Promote positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches.
* Support staff in managing incidents calmly and consistently.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage self-regulation and engagement.
* Work one-to-one or in small groups to deliver targeted interventions.
* Assist in developing and implementing individual behaviour plans.
* Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour patterns.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies as required.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with young people, particularly those with behavioural or SEMH needs (within education, youth work, or a similar setting).
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Resilience and the ability to remain positive under pressure.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or restorative behaviour approaches.
* Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or psychology.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
