Job Summary
The Accounts Assistant supports the hotels finance department by handling day-to-day accounting and financial administration, ensuring accurate financial records in line with hotel policies and hospitality industry standards. The role works closely with front office, food & beverage, purchasing, and management teams to support smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Accounting Duties
Process purchase invoices, ensuring correct coding to departments (F&B, rooms, admin, etc.)
Prepare and post sales revenue from rooms, food & beverage, events, and other outlets
Reconcile daily revenue reports from PMS and POS systems
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
Prepare bank reconciliations and petty cash
Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting
Support preparation of VAT / tax returns and audits
Hotel-Specific Responsibilities
Verify daily income audits and night audit reports
Monitor city ledger, guest ledger, and credit card reconciliations
Liaise with front office and F&B teams regarding revenue and billing issues
Support stock and inventory control (food, beverage, housekeeping supplies)
Ensure compliance with hotel financial controls and procedures
Assist with payroll preparation, including timesheets and gratuities (where applicable)
Skills and Competencies
Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
Knowledge of hotel accounting procedures and revenue controls
Experience with hotel systems (e.g. Opera, Oracle, Sage, Xero, or similar)
Good Excel and general IT skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Experience with IHG and Accor branded hotels
Opera knowledge
Qualifications and Experience
AAT qualification or studying towards AAT (preferred)
Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality finance role is highly desirable
Understanding of revenue, cost control, and departmental accounting in hotels
