Job Title: PV Engineer Intern within Engineering Services
Location: London
Reporting to: Senior PV Engineer (London, UK)
Role Summary
You will support R&D projects focused on photovoltaic module performance and innovative technologies. You will analyse PV module field testing data, support on-site implementation of further tests, and evaluate the use of PV modules as light and temperature sensors. Your work will inform Lightsource bp's technology strategy.
Responsibilities
* Assist management for R&D projects
* Analyse performance data from field‑tested PV modules and provide technical recommendations for ongoing testing phases
* Model performance versus reality for the use of PV modules as light and temperature sensors
* Communicate and participate in meetings with project stakeholders
* Support standardisation of engineering requirements to be included within the Lightsource bp portfolio
* Conduct engineering analysis of new technologies
* Provide feedback to line manager and the team
* Deliver clear results, insights, and guidelines to the wider engineering team
Experience & Knowledge Required
* Knowledge or experience of renewable energy, solar PV, BESS or Wind
* Basic understanding of the main factors affecting solar PV site performance
* Research experience (from bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred)

* Project management
* Application of engineering concepts in practice
* Problem solving and analytical skills
* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Data analysis software (Excel, Python, PowerBI, R, etc.)
* PV*Syst knowledge is a bonus
* Self‑motivated
* Fluency in written and spoken English
Education Required
* Working towards or holding a degree in physics or engineering (electrical/renewable energy preferred)
