Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and clinically confident Lead Pharmacist to join our expanding private pharmacy service in Gloucester. This hybrid role combines leadership within our busy dispensary with ward‑based clinical pharmacy support across several community hospitals in Gloucestershire. The position offers varied clinical exposure, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across care settings. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Dispensary Leadership – Gloucester Pharmacy
* Lead and support dispensary staff, working closely with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure a safe, efficient, and patient‑centred service.
* Clinically screen and accuracy check prescriptions using a high standard of clinical judgment.
* Collaborate with ACTs and ACDs to support training, development, and continuous skill growth across the team.
* Provide clear medicines advice to wards, including interaction, side‑effect management, and optimisation.
* Experience with SystmOne is desirable.
Community Hospital Clinical Support – Gloucestershire
* Lead and develop the pharmacy clinical team of Pharmacists and Technicians while delivering clear feedback, operational insight, and collaborative support to the Pharmacy Manager.
* Conduct medicines reconciliation at admission, discharge, and transfer of care.
* Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, providing expert pharmaceutical input.
* Undertake structured clinical medication reviews for patients with long‑term conditions or polypharmacy.
* Identify, manage, and resolve medication‑related risks and drug‑related problems.
* Support safe prescribing practices and medicines governance.

Person Specification
* GPhC registered Pharmacist.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong clinical reasoning and problem‑solving ability.
* Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Gloucestershire.
* Experience in community pharmacy, primary care, or ward‑based clinical pharmacy.
* Experience working within community hospitals or intermediate care settings.
* Experience with SystmOne (familiarity desirable).
* Evidence of ongoing CPD relevant to clinical pharmacy or leadership.
