Brodie Engineering: A Leading Rolling Stock Engineering Business offers a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management, and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector.
We operate from our depots in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and provide a mobile service to the rail industry across the UK and Ireland.
We are looking to recruit a Stores Person to support the day-to-day running of the consumables store, delivering a secure, efficient, and reliable service to colleagues.
The Stores Person is responsible for ensuring that all consumable parts are stored, handled, and issued correctly. They will maintain accurate records of all transactions and perform regular stock checks.
The duties of the role include:
* Loading/unloading of lorries and vans
* Raising requisition orders and liaising with Materials Manager on purchase of supplies as required
* Ensuring timely receipt of purchased materials into electronic database
* Controlling all stock movements into and out of the stores physically and on the electronic system
* Checking material certification against orders
* Maintaining required stock levels
* Controlling all materials in accordance with internal processes and quality procedures
* Handling and issuing chemicals/paints safely, in line with COSHH procedures
* Participating in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual stock counts
* Producing weekly stock usage reports
* Monitoring and reporting on trends or abnormal usage
* Packaging materials for shipment
The ideal candidate will:
* Have knowledge of rail industry terminology or building trade (preferred)
* Have excellent attention to detail
* Be proficient in Excel and Word
* Have experience with SAGE (desirable)
* Be proactive with a positive approach and able to work independently
* Possess strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
* Communicate effectively at all levels
* Be capable of working without direct supervision
* Have warehouse experience
* Hold a valid driving license
