Principal Designer Job in Greater Manchester
in Greater Manchester, joining an award-winning RIBA chartered practice. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of Principal Designer duties across a wide range of projects, with the backing of an experienced in-house team. The role offers a salary of up to £50,000 + flexible hours.
The practice has an established reputation for design quality and technical delivery, with a portfolio spanning residential, education, commercial and public sector projects. You’ll be joining a collaborative studio environment, working closely with design teams and contributing to the implementation of health and safety in design and compliance with the latest legislation.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Support the discharge of Principal Designer duties across multiple projects
2. Advise internal teams and clients on health and safety and risk management
3. Assist with compliance under CDM Regulations and the Building Safety Act
4. Coordinate pre-construction information and maintain QA documentation
5. Attend project meetings and carry out site visits
6. Work collaboratively with the internal PD team and contribute to training initiatives
7. Support the development of tools and procedures to embed best practice.
Required Skills & Experience
8. Experience delivering or supporting Principal Designer duties under CDM
9. Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and its practical application
10. Previous experience in a design, project management, building control or H&S role
11. Strong attention to detail and understanding of compliance requirements
12. NEBOSH Construction Certificate, APS Membership or similar qualification preferred.
