Job Description:

The Role

We are looking to recruit a Superintendent Radiographer to join the Radiology Unit at University Hospital Wishaw!

The successful candidate will act as Lead Radiographer for one or more highly specialised Radiographic imaging modalities, with associated managerial responsibility for Radiographic staff, resources and a devolved budget.

The post holder will support the Deputy Radiology Service Manager and Clinical Director in meeting operational and strategic targets, and improving the quality of patient care within the Radiology Speciality.

What we'll need you to bring

* Registered Radiographer with valid HCPC Registration
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
* Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
* Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology

It would be great if you also have:

* Evidence of further education and continuous professional development
* Evidence of clinical training and personal motivation
* Clinical experience at band 6 with highly developed specialist knowledge of Radiographic imaging
* Radiographic QA experience
* DR Radiography experience
* Mammography experience
* Experience of supervising/managing staff.
* Extensive knowledge of plain radiography imaging.
* Familiarity with operational requirements of a band 7 position.
* Training/refresher on Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017
* Ability to take responsibility and make decisions
* Ability to lead a team
* IT, information and document handling skills
* Evidence of management/leadership training.
* Training of student radiographers
* Flexible and versatile with ability to identify care priorities.
* Ability to work using own initiative and under time pressures.
