What You’ll Be Doing:

As a key player in our team, you will:

* Lead the Way: Act as the electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical leadership and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders, including equipment suppliers.
* Manage Interfaces: Oversee the electrical interface with the power system, ensuring a best-for-programme approach.
* Own the Technology: Take technical ownership of key technology readiness projects, ensuring the end product meets maturity standards before platform integration.
* Support Delivery: Assist in the technical delivery of facility requirements for technology readiness projects, including verification and validation activities.
* Analyze Risks: Conduct technical risk analysis and develop mitigation plans to support equipment delivery into the SSNA platform.
* Plan for the Future: Contribute to the development and resilience planning for the SSNA Steam IDTs engineering team, ensuring succession planning for enduring SQEP capability.
* Govern and Author: Independently govern, author, and approve technical artifacts.


Your Skills and Experiences:

Essential:

* 1st degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc (Hons) / BEng (Hons) / MEng (Hons))
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership
* Expertise in integrating power electronic conversion equipment into power system designs (Inverters, rectifiers, Active Front End, filter interactions)
* Knowledge of power system interface requirements (stability, quality, protection coordination)
* Experience in developing power system verification and validation plans, including technology readiness strategies
* Understanding of the complete engineering life cycle in a complex environment, from requirement generation to test and commissioning

Desirable:

* Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems, power electronics, electrical machine design) e.g., MSc(Eng), MPhil(Eng), PhD, EngD
* Familiarity with permanent magnet rotating machines
* Knowledge of Power System Analysis for AC and DC systems, including generation and control modeling
* Understanding of interface requirements for power system control and instrumentation
* Experience as a submarine operator

The SSNA Steam Integrated Delivery Team (SIDT):

Join us as the Electrical SME within the SSNA’s Steam Integrated Delivery Team. This team is dedicated to delivering innovative equipment into the submarine environment. Your role will be pivotal in shaping how we tackle challenges and ensure timely equipment delivery while supporting technology maturity enablement plans. This is a unique opportunity for significant professional growth!

We also provide relocation support packages for all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility criteria.
