This role works Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm with a half hour unpaid lunch break (37.5 hrs per week) and offers 24 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays. As a HSQE Specialist you will be responsible for maintaining compliance within the industry’s regulatory framework and legal requirements as well as maintain internal policies and procedures. You will be responsible for supporting the Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Strategy and working with management and staff to identify and manage regulatory risk. Develop and implement compliance programmes and policies and conduct risk assessments Lead on certifications e.g. ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 compliance, Ensure the company has internal controls that adequately measure and manage the risks that the company faces Design, update and maintain internal policies to mitigate the risk of the company breaking laws and regulations and lead internal audits of procedures Develop and update health, safety and environmental policies & programms to ensure business compliance. Safety programs include, but are not limited to, power industrial trucks/mobile equipment, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, working from heights, ergonomics, material handling/dock safety, electrical safety, contractor safety, walking/working surfaces, confined spaces, hot work, and hazardous communication. Environmental programs encompass new chemical approvals, air emissions, stormwater management, wastewater processing, spill prevention and countermeasures, solid/hazardous waste management, and oversight of environmental permits and plans. Conduct thorough investigations in response to EHS incidents Conduct internal and external audits (sister cross site audits) Communicate the company’s key ethical principles, regulatory changes and compliance regulations Ensure all employees work efficiently and safely without violating any laws or company policies Maintain complete and accurate compliance documentation Track and report compliance violations or irregularities Keep up to date with new laws and regulation changes Design and deliver EHS training to all staff at all levels Identify areas where improvements could be made Responsibilities (e.g. KPI’s, budget, assignments) : Managing health and safety budget Ensuring the site meets all regulatory standards EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a HSEQ role Understanding of: ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 is required In depth knowledge of the regulated environment H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH certificate or equivalent Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and standards High ethical standards and the ability to lead by example Excellent people skills and expertise in communication and training Proactive, organised and confident working independently High level of attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Office COMPETENCIES: Competent to intermediate levels in MSOffice suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint Must be confident and comfortable challenging the status quo Presentation skills Organizational skills, with the ability to run subject matter expert training sessions Confident lead auditor skills and experience
