Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Operational Risk Manager to support the Head of Risk in overseeing and managing all aspects of Operational Risk across the organisation. In this newly created key role, you will play a vital part in strengthening our client's risk framework and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will take ownership of risk processes and delivering on actions required to reduce Operational Risk. £60,000 - £65,000 per annum plus benefits including company car Office-based in Slough, hybrid working after probation (3 days in office, 2 at home) Key Responsibilities: Identify, measure, and monitor potential risks across the business, collaborating closely with key stakeholders. Conduct business impact assessments to highlight potential risks. Perform quarterly second-line controls, ensuring risks are properly managed and developing action plans to address any issues. Lead and manage the annual Operational Risk Mapping process, applying Basel risk categories to ensure comprehensive risk oversight across the organisation. Test the adequacy and effectiveness of first line controls. Carry out root-cause analysis of operational events and develop strategies to prevent recurrence. Support both ad-hoc and recurring risk projects, including segregation-of-duties analysis. Collaborate with colleagues on new and emerging risk management methodologies and regulatory requirements. Provide coaching and guidance to junior member(s) of staff. Key Skills: Minimum of 5 years' experience in enterprise and operational risk management, with experience in risk frameworks and processes. Experience in financial services, with a strong understanding of the UK regulatory environment is desirable. Degree of 2:1 in a numerate discipline, ideally Business, Economics, or a related field. Excellent attention to detail. Strong analytical skills. Confident in independent decision-making. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
