Site-based role (no daily requirement to attend a depot)
Travel: Significant staying-away required during initial project phase, then Local work
About the Role
We are seeking a fully qualified Highways Electrician to support major highways electrical projects. The successful candidate must be comfortable working away from home for extended periods during the initial programme, with work becoming more local thereafter. The Highways Electrician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of highways electrical assets, ensuring all works meet industry and statutory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain and repair highways electrical systems and associated infrastructure
Carry out testing, inspection and certification in line with statutory and industry requirements
Work to HERS and sector scheme standards
Complete works safely, efficiently and to specification
Liaise with supervisors, project managers and clients as required
Ensure accurate completion of job sheets, test results and compliance documentation
Travel to sites across the UK, including regular overnight stays during project phases
Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Systems
HERS Highways Electrician ECS Card
Ability and willingness to work away for extended periods
Strong understanding of highways electrical assets and sector scheme requirements
Experience working on live highways or similar safety-critical environments
Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
714, 2391 or equivalent testing & inspection qualification
G39 (or willingness to obtain)
Working Hours & Pay Enhancements
Standard hours: 07:0016:00, Monday to Friday
Overtime rates:
1.5x for nights and Saturday daytime
2x for Sundays
Staying-away uplift: £30 per day
Meal/expenses allowance: Up to £35 per day
