Responsibilities
* Help develop and deliver all aspects of the Acute Medicine service through the Emergency Department, CDU and SDEC.
* Provide acute assessment and treatment of medical patients presenting to GGH front door (Emergency Department, Clinical Decision Unit and Same Day Emergency Care).
* Provide effective leadership to multidisciplinary staff members in the CDU, SDEC and ED.
* Ensure close working with GP and medical colleagues.
* Provide timely assessment and treatment of patients presenting to GGH with medical conditions.
* Ensure close working between A+E, SDEC and CDU.
* Provide clinical supervision of the SDEC and Emergency Department medical patients.
* Ensure close cooperation with other medical consultant colleagues to develop seamless pathways of care for patients.
* Work with the team to the development of "hot clinics" as an alternative to admission.
* Ensure close liaison with GP colleagues to direct patients to the most suitable service.
* Ensure development, support and training for nurse consultant and nurse practitioner colleagues.
* Provide the necessary training and support of junior doctors.
