Part Time Finance Manager (Charity) – Exeter – Circa: £36,000 FTE
Trial Balance Consulting has been engaged by one of the region's most respected community charities, which offers multi-faceted services assisting some of the county’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. They are seeking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for a permanent, flexible part-time role of approximately two days per week, which can be split over multiple days to suit the successful candidate.
This pivotal position works closely with the Chief Executive and involves broad responsibilities within a small, passionate team. Key duties include:
1. Acting as the primary finance officer for the charity, overseeing daily accounting activities using Sage.
2. Producing management accounts with commentary for presentation to the CEO and board.
3. Handling bank reconciliations, cash flow, and income monitoring.
4. Managing HMRC submissions and monthly payroll operations, including employee pensions.
5. Preparing annual balance sheets and statutory reports in line with Charities SORP.
6. Managing VAT preparation and submissions.
7. Liaising with external auditors and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) with extensive experience in end-to-end accounting and strategic planning. While experience in charity accounting is advantageous, candidates with a strong background in private sector finance and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills will also be considered.
