Delivery Director – Avencera
Avencera is an AI‑native, human‑led business built to help clients reimagine, reinvent, and lead their markets into the AI era. We bring imagination, intellectual cut‑through, execution smarts, and an adaptive approach to collaboration required to help leaders deliver real change.
Through our consulting practice, we work with clients in central Government, health and care, education, and increasingly enterprise clients, across sophisticated strategy, innovation, transformation, and capability‑building engagements.
Through A WORKS we collaborate with thought leaders, innovators, and AI‑specialist developers to tackle the biggest problems we face in public service, health, and education – setting aside the consulting commercial model to work in whatever ways best solve the problem.
In partnership with our AI‑specialist development team, we’re building innovative new tools that will transform our clients’ organisations and customer experiences – some for clients on a consulting basis, some through A WORKS that we will take to market as products.
We are a business powered by passion, grit, insight, intellect, and execution‑smarts of our people: a tightly knit team of market experts, willing to challenge convention, and our colleagues, in pursuit of transformational change we believe is possible.
Role specification
The role’s objective is to lead the delivery of our more complex engagements to an exceptional standard for our clients. It requires providing delivery grip and confidence to senior leaders across the business and ensuring a consistently high‑quality, low‑friction client experience across all engagements.
The role will work with our founder, managing director, senior leaders and colleagues across the business to embed delivery practices, contributing to the growth of a business that disrupts consulting convention and helps clients shape how the markets we serve evolve into the AI era.
The role will predominantly sit within the Avencera consulting practice but may bridge into other parts of the business as it grows and evolves over the next 3‑5 years. The person will have >10 years’ experience delivering complex programmes, ideally in a consulting or Government environment, with experience in digital and technology‑focused programmes.
Responsibilities
* Own end‑to‑end delivery of Avencera’s most complex and strategically critical engagements, accountable for client outcomes, commercial performance, and delivery quality. These are multi‑workstream programmes, with high levels of stakeholder engagement and C‑suite level client relationships.
* Be a present and active leader in the business – in the board, SMT, and all staff engagement – to build and maintain the culture needed to deliver the firm’s strategy and ambition.
* Build relationships with clients at a senior level to deliver our largest and most complex engagements, and position the business for strategic sales opportunities.
* Own the commercial performance of engagements, including forecasting, margin management, and risk mitigation.
* Embed Avencera’s delivery framework across the business, continuing to refine and develop the steps and artefacts needed to deliver successful programmes consistently. Work with AWORKS colleagues to ensure this reflects the increasing digital focus of our delivery engagements.
* Own programme governance, assurance, and risk management, including engagement with SROs, boards, and formal review bodies as required.
* While this is not a sales role, you will need to work with market directors to ensure our delivery capability and proposition is well understood and forms a key part of their go‑to‑market activities.
* Work across the business as colleagues bid for Government / public sector contracts to provide the implementation expertise required, particularly for managed services where Avencera could play a significant role as prime or sub‑contractor.
Working location
This role will require presence in our Farringdon HQ at least twice a week and occasional travel to client sites depending on the nature of the engagement.
Package
* Basic salary to be agreed depending on experience but as a guide £100k – £140k per year.
* Potential to be included in the firm’s growth equity scheme.
* Up to 40% bonus based on firm and individual performance.
* 27 days’ annual leave, rising to 30 through performance, not including bank holidays.
* Private medical and dental insurance.
* 4% pension contributions.
