Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Emergency Practitioner who is either a Registered Nurse or Paramedic and who can independently assess, investigate, diagnose, and treat patients in our Minor Injury Unit. The role is based in the Emergency Department and requires working across 7 days per week with shift patterns between 10 and 12 hours, and between 07:00 and 23:00.
We aim to attract dynamic, motivated, clinically strong candidates with experience in Emergency Medicine and a drive for service improvement. You will work in a fast-paced environment with supportive colleagues, delivering efficient and caring patient care.
Responsibilities
* Provide clear and effective leadership.
* Participate in assessment, planning and delivery of direct patient care across the Emergency Department, Ambulatory Unit and Minor Injuries Unit.
* Be fully accountable and responsible for shift management.
* Independently assess, investigate, diagnose and treat patients in specified client groups.
* Ensure safe and effective practice across the unit and coordinate with key personnel.
* Collaborate with the Ward manager and Clinical Matron to deliver high-calibre evidence-based care and support a flexible workforce.
* Initiate, promote and maintain high standards of practice in line with departmental requirements.
* Provide clinical expertise on shift and when representing the department.
* Manage resources effectively within budget parameters.
* Actively participate in audits.

Qualification
* Essential: ENP course / APICA or equivalent
Desirable
* Masters or working towards one
Clinical Skills
* Essential: Experience of working in ED or urgent care
* Desirable: Area of particular interest within ED/service development
Experience
* Essential: At least 2 years at band 6

The successful applicant(s) will typically commence at the minimum of the scale unless there is prior NHS service at the same band. Progression is by annual increments.
