Regional Building Surveyor – Retail Division
As our Regional Building Surveyor, you will manage our Retail Division's property portfolio covering over 220 leasehold shops and stores across Central England & North Wales. You will deliver a full range of building surveying services, both reactive and planned maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead diverse projects, from essential repairs to refurbishments and fit-outs
* Manage contract and tender documentation
* Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance inspections
* Perform acquisition and disposal surveys
* Offer dilapidations advice
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders
* Fulfil CDM duties, including being Principal Designer (if required)
* Oversee building maintenance
Experience Requirements
* Possess a professional building/construction management qualification (MRICS, MCIOB) or significant demonstrable experience in retail building surveying
* Have sound technical knowledge of all legislation relating to the fit-out and occupation of leasehold retail premises (Building Regulations, Planning, CDM, Fire Safety Order, Health & Safety, and Asbestos)
* Be a highly effective team player with strong interpersonal, influencing, and decision‑making skills
* Have extensive experience in all key aspects of traditional building surveying disciplines, including:
o acquisition and disposal surveys
o health and safety
o defects analysis
o maintenance inspections and management of remedial works
o coordination with stakeholders, including contractors and consultants
o building pathology
o dilapidations
o contract administration
o access audits
o fit‑out design
* It would be advantageous if you have specific experience in developing and maintaining a large retail estate
Working Arrangements
This is a home‑based role with travel throughout Central England & North Wales and periodic travel across the country. You will be required to live within the region. Overnight stays may be required (approximately 4‑5 nights a month). You will manage your diary to align with project needs.
