Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-motivated and reliable Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology department at BHR University Hospitals Trust on a fixed term of 6 months to cover maternity leave. The department operates across two sites: Queen's Hospital (QH) in Romford and King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes. The post holder will be based on experience and may be required to work in all areas of the laboratory on a rotational basis, including at the other site (QH or KGH).
Responsibilities
* Perform technical work as required in all sections of the laboratory on a rotational basis under the supervision of senior BMS staff.
* Work as part of a team analysing patient samples, producing results that inform patient care.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Degree in Biomedical Science and HCPC registration.
* Successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio, or equivalent experience if HCPC registration was prior to the availability of this qualification.
* Computer literate with the ability to follow procedures and good written/verbal communication skills.
* Evidence of participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Enthusiasm for learning and the ability to adapt to a rotational laboratory role.
* Formal training within the Trust and within the Microbiology Department; performance assessed by appraisal and laboratory-based competence assessment.
