Join Our Team as a Principal Engineer – Electrical Engineering (Power)
Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Hybrid) – 2 days a fortnight onsite; 1 day a week onsite at Filton, depending on business needs.
Salary: Up to £57,500 (commensurate with skills and experience).
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our electrical systems. Your responsibilities will include:
* Developing innovative design solutions that meet time, cost, and quality standards.
* Managing requirements and acceptance criteria for systems and products.
* Understanding contractual and performance requirements to support design, build, integration, and commissioning activities.
* Producing essential documentation for design reviews, including diagrams and technical specifications.
* Providing technical support for performance and acceptance activities, ensuring smooth transitions from suppliers to customer acceptance.
* Estimating scope and resources for project planning and proposal development.
* Supporting Certificate of Design activities and articulating complex technical arguments clearly.
* Delivering technical input and engineering solutions for build activities and defect resolution.
Your Skills and Experiences:
We’re looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
* BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent, with CEng status or the ability to meet CEng requirements.
* Demonstrable experience in the engineering lifecycle.
* Understanding of power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.
* In-depth knowledge of Power System Architecture, Power Generation and Distribution, and Protection and Co-ordination.
* Significant expertise in AC and DC electrical power systems.
* Experience working within relevant engineering roles adhering to industry codes and standards.
