This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join our child development team based at the Crawley Child Development Centre (CDC) in West Sussex. The Centre provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary child development and disability services across the Crawley and Horsham areas. The successful applicant will become part of a multidisciplinary team offering high quality care for children with a wide range of developmental needs.
This post is suitable for either Community Paediatric or Neurodisability Paediatricians, the clinical role being largely focused on children with neurodisability or neurodevelopmental disorders. The Medical Lead will provide clinical leadership and form part of the CDC's medical leadership team, working closely with the Medical Head of Service.
Child Development Centres are part of SCFT's wider Child Development Services, with 3 other CDCs. There are opportunities for joint working and professional development and networking with over 15 consultant paediatric colleagues across the Trust.

The post holder will carry a neurodevelopmental and neurodisability caseload, as well as undertaking work associated with the team's Medical Lead responsibilities. The post holder will be encouraged and supported to undertake further training when in post if needed. You will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team, to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service.
There are close links with CAMHS, University Hospitals Sussex, and with Education and Social Services within West Sussex. There is a requirement for the post holder to support the teaching of medical students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and in supervising paediatric trainees. They will participate in quality improvement, and peer review activities within the department.
The post offers regular SPA time and supports continued professional development.
Responsibilities
1. The Medical Lead will demonstrate strong professional medical leadership within the Child Development Centres providing professional line management to the medical team.
2. The post-holder will work in collaboration and support the Deputy Operational Head of Service to provide a holistic overview and delivery of services within the Child Development Centre.
3. Acting in support of the Medical Head of Service, the post holder will be a key member of the locality leadership team and work in a close relationship with the Deputy Operational Head of Services.
4. The post holder will support the Medical Head of Service and Divisional Medical Director to continually improve equitable patient care, experience, access and outcomes for their service through the development and assisting with the implementation of Trust initiatives.
5. The post holder will demonstrate highly visible clinical and professional leadership behaviours, which are underpinned by the values of the Trust, and be a role model for leadership, training, coaching, and facilitating medical staff development at all levels.
6. Working with the Medical and Operational Head of Service, the post holder will take the lead in medical recruitment for the service.
7. The postholder will, working with Deputy Head of Service (CDCs) and Medical Head of Service, be responsible for medical clinical governance including the identification, reporting, management and mitigation of risk and patient safety.
