Job Description
Job Title: Principal Safety & Environmental Engineer
Locations: Barrow-In-Furness, Portsmouth, BroadOak, Frimley, Weymouth, Plymouth, or Bristol
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
* Support the derivation and management of Product Safety requirements based on hazard and risk identification
* Work in accordance with Project Safety Management Plans
* Influence safe design development and contribute to the Project Safety Case with logical safety arguments and justification reports
* Support hazard identification meetings and maintain the project hazard log
* Perform peer reviews, checks, verification, and assurance tasks to ensure the Safety Case's robustness
Your skills and experiences:
* Understanding of engineering safety management processes, hazard analysis, safety arguments, and safety case reports
* Knowledge of safety within systems engineering, including engineering requirements and delivery processes
* Understanding of ALARP principles and application
* Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS and Enterprise Architect
* Experience working in defence or complex systems environments involving software products

The SSNA Combat System Team
As a Principal Engineer, you will support the Engineering Delivery Manager in developing and maintaining the Project Product Safety Management System and Safety Case, ensuring product safety and legal compliance. You'll join a team of about 50 engineers working collaboratively on major development programs, with opportunities for career development and relocation support.
