Technical Services Officer (Maternity Cover 12 months)
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Technical Services Officer to join our well-established, dynamic, and growing technical services team.
This fixed-term position is suitable for an individual looking to advance their career in food safety, quality, and legality, and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.
The main responsibility will be to support the Technical Services Manager in delivering professional, credible, and timely services to the business and our customers. This includes managing internal and external systems, records, and documents to ensure the maintenance and continuous improvement of standards.
Responsibilities:
* Creating, maintaining, and supporting the team on customer specifications in various third-party systems, ensuring accuracy and availability in both customer and internal systems.
* Supporting document control for the Technical function and relevant departments within the business.
* Assisting with audit compliance as required by the Technical Services Manager.
* Timely administration and maintenance of the raw material database, including service suppliers, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
* Creating and maintaining records in the Quality Attributes System.
* Managing consumer complaints, maintaining reports, and monitoring trends to identify and address recurring issues.
* Maintaining product testing databases and schedules, including nutritional, chemical, and other contaminants, and preparing results for review.
* Supporting the management of the site’s internal audit systems.
* Assisting in threat/vulnerability assessments and horizon scanning as needed.
* Collaborating with other departments to fulfill the role effectively.
Skills and Experience:
* A third-level qualification (diploma or degree) in Food Science or a relevant subject is advantageous.
* Experience in a similar role within food manufacturing (FMCG), preferably with a major retail customer, is advantageous.
* Internal Auditor training and experience.
* Understanding of legislation and business systems to ensure food safety standards are met.
* Proficiency in relevant IT systems, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Fast and accurate typing skills with high attention to detail.
* Proven ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines and under pressure.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to take ownership and accountability with a positive attitude and proactive approach.
