Job Description:
Job summary
Harrogate is a vibrant, picturesque and interesting spa town that provides a healthy, safe and satisfying working environment. It has excellent housing, sought-after schools, and was voted the happiest place to live in the UK. It is near motorways, rail services, and close to Leeds Bradford. Population (2021) is 16,263.
The area has diverse mental health needs, with pockets of affluence and areas of deprivation.
This post was vacated by the previous substantive consultant moving.
The Harrogate locality is served by two community mental health teams: The Harrogate Integrated Community team (HICT) and Ripon Integrated Community Team (RICT). These include assertive outreach and primary care workers, based at Valley Gardens Resource Centre in Harrogate. There is also a Crisis and Resolution Team and services at Harrogate District Hospital. The postholder will work with the Ripon Integrated Community team, which covers Ripon, Knaresborough, and Boroughbridge, with another consultant providing input with 5 PAs.
Main duties of the job
The clinical work involves outpatient clinics, formulation, review, leadership meetings, and Mental Health Act-related work, following the principles of New Ways of Working. Inpatient services are provided from Foss Park Hospital in York, with local support from the crisis resolution and home treatment team.
You will not act as a care coordinator but as a lead professional for patients not under CPA. You will conduct up to 2 new assessments weekly, following initial assessments by care coordinators, and 10 follow-ups weekly, with regular reviews to manage caseloads.
Supervision of junior medical staff will be shared with another postholder working 5 PAs.
