We are pleased to offer this opportunity to work with the team at The Welsh Centre for Cleft Lip & Palate. We are based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea and provide a service for those born with a cleft palate and velopharyngeal disorder across South Wales.
You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary cleft team attending clinics and working alongside other team members. You will deliver therapy for children with cleft speech characteristics and provide assessments at routine time-points. You will be supported by, and work alongside, experienced cleft SLTs and SLTAs.
Main duties of the job
You will have highly developed auditory, perceptual and empathy skills to be able to accurately assess and provide differential diagnosis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will use your specialist, professional knowledge and expertise to assess patients, plan their management and prioritise the caseload. You will work autonomously to provide specialist assessment and intervention, recognising your own scope of practice and seeking advice as appropriate.
You will provide advice, modelling, training and support to professional colleagues/parents/carers to enable them to support, facilitate and maximise the communication potential of patients.
You will be responsible for identification and onward referral to the wider multiprofessional team for additional specialist
assessment and input and will incorporate these results into the management of the patient.
You will contribute towards audit and research projects to improve clinical practice.

Essential Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
1. Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree
2. Specialist knowledge of cleft palate and velopharyngeal dysfunction
3. Experience of delivering specialist therapy
4. Experience of supervising students or SLTAs
Desirable criteria
5. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
6. Experience of contribution to clinical audit or research in own specialist area
7. Has completed relevant post-graduate training courses
