Overview
We are a growing accountancy practice providing high-quality accounting, tax and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, including SMEs, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong individual who enjoys client interaction and wants to play an active role in a progressive practice environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will manage their own portfolio of clients and be responsible for delivering a wide range of accounting and tax services.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies
* Preparation of management accounts
* Corporation tax computations and returns
* Preparation of self-assessment tax returns
* VAT return preparation and submission
* Bookkeeping and review of client records
* Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide advice
* Supporting junior team members where appropriate
* Assisting with HMRC enquiries and compliance matters
Payroll Services
* Processing weekly and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients
* Managing RTI submissions to HMRC
* Administering auto-enrolment pension schemes
* Processing starters, leavers, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP etc.)
* Liaising with clients regarding payroll queries and compliance matters
About You
Qualifications & Experience
* ACA / ACCA qualified or part-qualified (or qualified by experience)
* Minimum 3 years' experience within an accountancy practice
* Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and UK tax regulations
* Experience preparing accounts independently from client records
Skills & Attributes
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong communication and client relationship skills
* Ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients
* Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS, TaxCalc)
* Good working knowledge of Excel
