The role
As an Aircraft Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the engineering and maintenance activities that keep our training aircraft safe, serviceable and ready for daily flying operations. Working closely with Licensed Aircraft Engineers (LAEs) and aircraft inspectors, you’ll contribute to line and depth maintenance, scheduled servicing, ground handling and other essential engineering tasks that directly support flight safety and training delivery.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
1. Prepare aircraft for daily flying, including ground handling, turnaround tasks, fuel and oil replenishment
2. Support line and depth maintenance activities, completing scheduled servicing and corrective maintenance
3. Interpret technical data and follow authorised engineering procedures to ensure safe, compliant work
4. Assist LAEs and inspectors with engineering activities, documentation and maintenance records
5. Carry out other engineering‑related tasks to meet or exceed customer and contractual requirements.

This is a full‑time onsite role working 40 hours per week based at RAF Woodvale, near Formby, Liverpool. Shift patterns may be flexible depending on operational needs, including some weekend work. You may also be asked to deploy occasionally to other sites or support detachments at alternative operating locations.
Essential experience of the Aircraft Technician:
6. Ability to interpret technical data accurately
7. Strong stakeholder engagement skills
8. Exposure to similar aviation or engineering environments, including candidates who have recently qualified and wish to develop further.
Qualifications for the Aircraft Technician:
9. Recognised Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship, Military training, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
10. Knowledge of aircraft maintenance engineering procedures
11. Full UK driving licence.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (EDBS) security clearance for this role.
