Portsmouth Water are looking for a Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Executive to work closely with the Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Manager to deliver impactful communications and engagement activities that support and promote our key strategic programmes. This role plays a vital part in building strong relationships with stakeholders and raising awareness of major projects, including the Havant Thicket Reservoir.


What will you be doing?


Key Responsibilities

Supporting the Communications & Stakeholder Engagement Manager with all aspects of media relations and stakeholder engagement. Communicating with all stakeholders in a way that positively promotes Portsmouth Water and the strategic programmes we are delivering, including Havant Thicket Reservoir, building lasting relationships.
Organisation of all key stakeholder group meetings across the business, including the Havant Thicket Reservoir Stakeholder Advisory Group & sub-groups, producing and circulating professional minutes, drafting presentation materials and tracking all actions to ensure they are completed.
First point of contact for all customer and stakeholder enquiries associated with the Havant Thicket Reservoir project and responsible for drafting and issuing responses to these.
Managing all shared inboxes (Press Office and Havant Thicket Reservoir) and drafting and co-ordinating responses to stakeholders, coordinating with our contractors Future Water and Ward & Burke.
Drafting copy, including but not limited to press releases, stakeholder responses, newsletter articles and social media news stories.
Issuing the weekly “Site visits and engagement plan” to the Havant Thicket Reservoir Executive.
Maintaining a company-wide press and stakeholder database and ensuring it is updated with all activity from across the business.
Supporting the Marketing & Communications Assistant and Customer Services Team to respond to and limit any reputational risk from negative comments on social media
Supporting the Communications & Engagement Officer with organising and managing face-to-face community engagement events and site visits. This will involve some evening and weekend working.


What do you need?


Skills, Qualifications & Competencies

Excellent written, face to face and verbal communications skills
Keen interest in the local and national media and political landscape
Able to manage a busy and varied workload
Accurate with good attention to detail
Highly organised
Empathy able to empathise with stakeholders and their needs
Driving licence
Previous experience of PR, communications or media relations
Knowledge/experience of the utility or infrastructure sectors
A relevant PR, communications or journalism qualification e.g. Degree, CIPR, NCTJ or desire to complete one.
