Job Purpose
The Commercial Data Analyst will support the Head of Commercial Planning and Analysis in optimising resource utilisation across SAE and ICMP campuses. This role involves analysing data, generating insights, and developing models to drive operational efficiency, profitability, and strategic planning. The Commercial Data Analyst will work with stakeholders across departments to provide actionable insights, support data‑driven decision‑making, and ensure alignment with organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Data Analysis and Reporting:
o Perform detailed analyses of enrolment, timetabling, and space utilisation data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
o Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring accurate and timely data is available for decision‑making.
o Collaborate with the Head of Commercial Planning and Analysis to forecast student numbers, course demand, and operational needs.
o Analyse financial data to support budget planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiencies.
* Operational Modelling and Optimisation:
o Build and maintain predictive models for enrolment, space utilisation, and casual staffing requirements.
o Identify inefficiencies in resource allocation and propose actionable solutions to improve operational performance.
o Provide data‑driven recommendations to optimise campus space and facilities to meet forecasted demand.
* Collaboration and Strategic Support:
o Support the Head of Commercial Planning and Analysis in preparing presentations, reports, and data insights for the Executive Committee (EXCO).
o Work with campus management teams to collect data and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
o Participate in key committees, including the Timetabling and Resource Planning Group (TRPG) and the ICT Committee, providing analytical insights and recommendations.
* System Integration and Process Improvement:
o Assist in the integration and streamlining of systems, ensuring effective data capture and reporting processes.
o Collaborate with the ICT team and the Head of IT on projects to enhance system functionality and reporting capabilities.
Qualifications
* Education and Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
o 2+ years of experience in a data analysis or business intelligence role, preferably in education or resource planning.
* Skills:
o Data Analysis and Reporting:
+ Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, including experience with complex formulas, pivot tables, and data modelling.
+ Proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and analytics software.
+ Strong ability to extract, clean, and interpret large datasets.
o Problem‑Solving and Critical Thinking:
+ Experience in building and optimising predictive models for enrolment or resource forecasting.
+ Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
o Communication and Collaboration:
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
+ Experience working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
o Technical Skills:
+ Familiarity with database management tools (e.g., SQL) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is desirable.
+ Knowledge of timetabling and resource planning systems is a plus.
Working Conditions
* Flexibility to travel across UK campuses as required to support operational initiatives.
* Ability to work collaboratively with the Head of Commercial Planning and Analysis and senior leadership teams.
