Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining a sterile environment. This position requires a strong background in patient care, anatomy, and medical terminology, along with the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities
* Assist surgeons during procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
* Prepare the operating room by ensuring all surgical instruments are sterilised and ready for use.
* Maintain aseptic technique throughout the surgical process to prevent infection.
* Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with patient positioning before, during, and after surgery.
* Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow and communication.
* Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments to identify any potential risks or complications.
* Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies at all times.
* Provide support in post-operative care, including monitoring recovery and assisting with patient education.
Experience
* Previous experience surgical setting is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with paediatric care is advantageous but not mandatory.
* Experience in a hospital environment with a focus on patient care is preferred.
* Excellent analytical skills to assess situations quickly and make informed decisions.
