Your Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Migration Architect to lead the architecture governance and execution of large-scale migrations from on prem/private cloud to public cloud AWS Azure. You will define landing zone architectures, establish controls and guardrails, design migration waves and oversee delivery across multiple portfolios including Payments, Retail, Banking, Cards, Risk, FinCrime. The role requires deep expertise in cloud architecture, security, compliance, data migration and resilient design within highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Strategy Architecture:
* Define cloud landing zone architecture, networking, identity, security, observability, cost management for AWS/Azure aligned with client standards
* Create target-state architectures and migration blueprints (rehost, replatform, refactor), application disposition and dependency maps
* Establish architectural guardrails and patterns for multi-account/subscription design, shared services and platform services
Governance, Risk, Compliance:
* Embed risk controls (SOX, PCI DSS, GDPR, UKEU regulatory expectations) into architecture and delivery
* Define IAM/RBAC models, secrets management, key management, encryption standards and data residency posture
* Drive policy-as-code and DevSecOps practices, pre-commit security checks, SAST/DAST, container image scanning
Migration Planning & Delivery:
* Lead migration waves and release trains, define cutover plans, rollback/DR strategies and BCP alignment
* Architect network connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Transit Gateway, Virtual WAN, Hub-Spoke, NAT Gateway) and hybrid patterns
* Oversee application assessment, 6Rs, dependency analysis and modernization (microservices, containers, serverless)
Platform Engineering tooling:
* Standardize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, GitHub/GitLab, Azure DevOps) and golden images/base AMIs
* Select and guide use of migration tools (AWS Application Migration Service, CloudEndure, Azure Migrate, DMS; Snowball/Data Box)
* Define observability stack (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus/Grafana, Splunk/ELK) with SLOs/SLOs and automated alerting
Data Integration:
* Architect data migration (RDS/Aurora/SQL MI), CDC replication, schema conversion and near-zero downtime strategies
* Govern API integration (API Gateway/App Gateway, Service Mesh, Kafka/Kinesis/Event Hubs, SQS/SNS, Service Bus)
Resilience & Performance:
* Design for HA/DR, multi-AZ/Region, zone-redundant services, capacity planning, performance tuning and cost optimization
Stakeholder Management & Documentation:
* Produce HLD/LLD reference architectures, decision records and governance packs for Architecture Review Boards
* Partner with CIO/CTO, platform teams, InfoSec, Compliance and Program/Project Managers; coach engineering teams on patterns
Your Profile
* 12-15 years in architecture/engineering with 8 years in cloud migration and platform architecture for regulated financial services
* Deep expertise in AWS and/or Azure
* Compute: Containers (EC2, EKS, ECS, VMSS, AKS)
* Serverless: Lambda Functions
* Storage: S3, EBS, EFS, Aurora, RDS, DMS, Blob, Managed Disks, Files, SQL MI
* Networking: VPC, TGW, Private Link, Direct Connect, VNet, Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute
* Security: IAM/KMS, Secrets Manager, Defender for Cloud, Entra ID/AAD, Key Vault, GuardDuty, Security Hub
* Observability & Operations: CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Automation
* Strong IaC (Terraform preferred), DevSecOps, policy-as-code (OPA, Conftest, Azure Policy) and GitOps practices
* Proven delivery of large-scale migrations (200+ workloads), portfolio sequencing, wave planning and cutovers
* Experience with Payments, Cards, Retail, Risk, FinCrime domains; understands data lineage, KYC/AML controls and auditability
* Excellent stakeholder management, governance, and leadership across business and technology
