Locum Consultant – Paediatric Haematology
Position: 10PA locum appointment for a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist with special interests in Malignant Haematology & Stem Cell Transplantation.
Location: Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide 10PA support to the Paediatric Haematology team.
* Deliver an emergency and elective regional service for children and young people with haematological disorders, particularly leukaemia and haematopoietic stem cell transplant.
* Share on‑call responsibility with other consultants in the Paediatric Haematology & Oncology team, including attending on call for the whole service and participation in the non‑malignant haematology telephone advice rota where appropriate.
* Offer advice and support to paediatric specialists in Leeds Children’s Hospital and to teams at other hospitals who refer to Leeds.
* Participate in multi‑professional paediatric clinical governance programmes, clinical management meetings, education, supervision and training of junior medical staff.
* Engage in the active departmental research programme and/or develop suitable research interests that benefit the service.
* Provide day‑to‑day care of paediatric and young adult haematology inpatients with haematological disorders, including leukaemia and those undergoing stem cell transplant.
Requirements:
* MBChB or equivalent.
* Registered on the Specialist Register or within six months of registration for trainees currently in a UK training programme.
* Established skills in paediatric haematology and its related specialties, including malignant haematology and stem cell transplant.
* Excellent communication and team‑working skills.
* Strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Desirable: research interest.
* Flexible to work full or part time and to job share.
