What you’ll be doing:
* Act as the primary health and safety representative for the client, ensuring contractors adhere to H&S regulations and contractual requirements.
* Develop, implement, and maintain H&S policies and procedures in line with UK regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations.
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
* Ensure compliance with industry best practices, ISO standards, and environmental health and safety (EHS) frameworks.
* Monitor and review contractor safety performance, conducting investigations and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
* Provide H&S leadership and support to internal project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
* Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective measures are implemented.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) and local authorities when required.
* Deliver training sessions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to project personnel.
* Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of all H&S activities, including risk assessments, audits, and compliance reports.
What experience you'll bring:
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in health and safety management within the renewables, construction, or energy sector.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Chartered Membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) is highly desirable.
* In-depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation, including CDM Regulations.
* Strong understanding of renewable energy project risks and best practices.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
* Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in large-scale wind, solar, or battery storage projects.
* Certification in Environmental Management (e.g., IEMA or similar).
* First Aid and Fire Safety qualifications.
