First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a practical, solutions-focused engineer to join a specialist technical services team supporting the installation, servicing, and maintenance of commercial laundry and warewash chemical dosing equipment on cruise ships worldwide.
This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working in varied environments, and delivering a high standard of customer service in challenging and international settings.
The successful candidate will spend approximately 75% of their time working onboard cruise ships, with deployments typically lasting 2–4 weeks, followed by time off in lieu.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Install, service, maintain and repair chemical dosing equipment for commercial laundry and warewash systems onboard cruise ships
2. Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, safety checks and repairs on installed systems
3. Work with electrical and plumbing systems within a marine environment
4. Support onboard installation projects alongside project managers, engineers and contractors
5. Prepare equipment, consumables and materials required for field deployments
6. Complete accurate service reports and technical documentation in a timely manner
7. Provide technical support and basic training to customers and end users where required
8. Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers through professional service delivery
Skills and Qualifications:
9. City & Guilds 17th Edition Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent electrical background
10. Proven experience in a hands-on or field-based engineering role
11. Experience working with 3-phase electrical systems
12. Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills
13. Confident working independently and as part of a wider technical team
14. Good organisational and communication skills with a customer-focused approach
15. Willingness to travel extensively and work away from home for extended periods
16. Experience in commercial laundry, warewash, dosing systems or plumbing would be advantageous
Location: Poole (Frequent International Travel is Required)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + Benefits
