Job Type: Full-time, PermanentShift Pattern: Day Shift – 38 hours per weekWorking Hours Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:30Friday: 07:00 – 13:00Salary £16 - 19.80ph (DOE)Role of a CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer A well-established precision engineering company is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to join its machining team on a permanent day shift basis.This role is ideally suited to a skilled CNC machinist with experience programming, setting, and operating CNC vertical milling machines using Heidenhain controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-precision components to exacting quality standards, including machining a range of specialist and difficult-to-machine materials.Key Responsibilities of a CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer Program CNC milling jobs directly at the machine using Heidenhain controlsSet and operate CNC vertical milling machinesLoad, prove, edit, and optimise CNC programsAccurately set up fixtures, vices, workholding equipment, and toolingInstall and adjust cutting tools to suit production requirementsCarry out tool offsets and minor program edits where necessaryMachine components from a range of materials including stainless steels and specialist alloysRead and interpret engineering drawings and technical specificationsSelect appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining strategiesCarry out first-off and in-process inspection using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, and gaugesMaintain tight tolerances and high surface finish standardsIdentify and resolve machining, tooling, and process issuesEnsure all components meet required quality standardsMaintain a clean, safe, and organised working environmentWork collaboratively with production and engineering teams to achieve operational targetsFollow all company health, safety, and quality proceduresSkills & Experience Required of CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer Proven experience as a CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator or Milling Setter / OperatorStrong understanding of CNC machining principles and toolingStrong working knowledge of Heidenhain CNC control systemsExperience operating CNC vertical milling machinesAbility to confidently interpret engineering drawingsCompetent in the use of precision measuring instrumentsExperience setting fixtures, tooling, and work offsetsAbility to work accurately to tight tolerancesStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualitySelf-motivated and capable of working independently or within a teamDesirable Experience of a CNC Miller Setter Operator Programmer Experience machining exotic or difficult-to-machine materialsExperience within precision engineering or high-integrity industries such as aerospace, oil & gas, medical, or motorsportExperience in one-off, prototype, or small batch productionKnowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement techniquesAdditional Opportunity Available: CNC Milling Setter / Operator positions are also available within the machining team for experienced candidates with strong setting and operating backgrounds.DisclaimerAt Venatu Recruitment Group, your right to privacy is important to us.
