Financial Accountant | Southend on Sea, Essex
Solopress is seeking a technically proficient and commercially aware Financial Accountant to join our friendly and dedicated finance team.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this key role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, IFRS compliance, and maintaining strong internal controls. The position also requires close collaboration with our German group company to support intercompany alignment and group-level reporting.
Role Responsibilities
1. Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
2. Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies and best practices.
3. Coordinate with finance teams at the German group company to align accounting processes, intercompany reconciliations, and group reporting standards.
4. Support the preparation of management accounts, budgeting, and variance analysis.
5. Prepare year-end audit files and liaise with external auditors.
6. Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial data.
7. Assist with tax compliance, including VAT and corporation tax, in collaboration with advisors.
8. Recommend and implement improvements in reporting systems, automation, and group integration.
9. Support ad hoc finance projects and group initiatives.
Role Requirements
1. Qualified or nearly qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA accountant; QBE considered.
2. 2–3+ years of experience in financial accounting or audit.
3. Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
4. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
5. Ability to collaborate across functions and internationally.
6. Proficiency in Excel and financial systems.
7. Effective communication skills and proactive approach.
8. Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or e-commerce sectors is desirable.
9. Experience with intercompany reporting and consolidations is a plus.
