Job Description
As a Sales Account Manager, you will be joining a rapidly expanding scientific manufacturing business that produces prepared microbiological culture media and other associated products for microbiology. Your role will be to manage and develop the customer base in terms of both turnover and margin, by identifying opportunities with existing customers and developing new prospects.
Customers: Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic, Food & Beverage, Water & Environmental and Contract Laboratory Testing sectors
Territory: UK South - Actual territory boundaries are flexible depending on location. Candidate must though live in the South of England. South of Gloucester, Oxford, Colchester.
Working with the wider sales team and Commercial Director, you will drive sales forward to meet business growth targets. The role is primarily field-based for visiting customers, generating sales leads, attending promotional events, exhibitions, and technical conferences and continuously exploring microbiology laboratory environments for opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
* New business development.
* Existing customer visits and account point of contact.
* Quote and tender preparation.
* Customer care and complaint management (In conjunction with the Quality Manager and the Customer Service Team).
* Liaising with the different departments within the company, Technical R&D, Customer Services, and the Quality Team, to deliver high-quality products and an exceptional level of service to customers.
* Required to be in the office in Corby, Northamptonshire for team meetings and training.
What you'll need to be successful
* Minimum of a BSc in Microbiology or Life-Science (with a microbiology focus)
* Must have at least one of the following:
2 years of field sales experience - A scientific sales professional with a good grounding in the industry and good basic field sales skills, looking to move into a more responsible position with good earning potential, in a team where they can make an impact.
Or
2 years of practical laboratory experience - A microbiology professional currently working in a laboratory, who wants to use their scientific knowledge and experience to maximise their earnings, and take on a new challenge outside of the lab in interesting varied microbiology settings.
* Experience in microbiology culture media or other sterile manufacturing would be an advantage.
* Candidate must be highly motivated, driven and committed to a career in a field sales role.
* Must be resilient and able to work autonomously.
* Have strong relationship-building skills with customers and maintain a professional approach at all times.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
