Job Title: Senior EngineerDepartment: Rail and Transport SystemsReporting to: Project ManagerLocation: Ashby-de-la-ZouchJob Purpose Responsible for developing specifications, producing engineering designs, and supporting site activities including testing and commissioning. The role also involves managing technical interfaces and maintaining strong client relationships.Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engineering solutions across SCADA, BMS, SISS ( Panorama or Iconics, WINCC or MEIDS ideally), and mobile systems.
* Produce designs, drawings, and technical documentation to meet customer requirements.
* Collaborate with stakeholders and maintain strong client relationships.
* Ensure compliance with QHSE, CDM, and relevant rail standards.
* Review technical specifications and provide support to clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Support project delivery, ensuring progress, quality, and financial targets are met.
* Investigate and resolve site issues, implementing corrective actions and sharing lessons learned.
* Assist with bids, quotations, and client proposals.
* Carry out site surveys, installation, testing, and commissioning activities as required.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and support team development.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and technologies.
Skills & Experience
* Experience in rail control systems engineering.
* Knowledge of relevant standards (BS, ISO, safety, CDM, rail standards).
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to design systems and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Experience with engineering software/tools (e.g. MS Office, CAD, Visio).
* Programming/configuration experience (e.g. C, Visual Basic, PLC/HMI systems) desirable.
* Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BEng) or equivalent experience.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Good time management and ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Working Hours
* 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
* Flexible working between 07:00–18:00 (core hours apply)
