Join Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team as a School Crossing Patrol Officer at Kings Ford County Infant & Junior School, Colchester.
Support children crossing the road in the morning and afternoon, ensuring pedestrian safety around the school and nearby areas.
We seek punctual, reliable, approachable individuals who enjoy engaging with the public.
This role involves approximately 7.5 hours per week, during the 39-week academic year, working 45 minutes in the morning (08:00 - 09:00) and 45 minutes in the afternoon (14:45 - 15:45), depending on site needs. Uniform, equipment, and training are provided.
Responsibilities include:
* Supporting the needs of people with disabilities, especially those with mobility impairments.
* Maintaining contact with schools attended by children using the crossing.
* Assessing risks at the crossing site, reporting issues to supervisors.
* Assisting in preparing reports on accidents and incidents at the crossing.
* Maintaining uniform and equipment in good condition, requesting replacements when needed.
* Giving clear signals to drivers to stop traffic and ensuring pedestrians cross safely.
