Senior Commercial Manager - Nuclear
Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join our PMO division, who are providing the client-side professional services for Hinkley Point C (HPC) – a pioneer nuclear new build project in the Southwest of the UK.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Commercial Manager will include:
* Support the end-to-end procurement process during contract development, including defining requirements, reviewing scope and value, and contributing to the preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of Invitations to Tender (ITT).
* Ensure alignment between technical specifications and commercial contract terms, working closely with stakeholders across procurement, delivery, finance, and legal teams.
* Lead the commercial management of contracts post-award, administering scope, programmes, pricing, payments, variations, disputes, and claims, while managing supplier relationships in accordance with NNB procedures.
* Drive effective cost and progress management through robust reporting, performance reviews, and proactive risk mitigation, maintaining accurate commercial records and correspondence throughout the contract lifecycle.
* Lead contract close-out activities, including commercial completion, performance evaluation, and the capture of lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Preferred Profile:
* Proven capability in commercial and contract management, consistently delivering successful contractual and financial outcomes.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to make sound, value-driven decisions on high-value and complex financial matters.
* Solid understanding of contract performance, risk management, and change and claims processes, with experience working under common Forms of Contract within the power construction sector.
* High level of attention to detail, with proven experience using Excel and commercial management systems to analyse costs, forecasts, and contractor submissions.
* Ability to professionally challenge contractor progress reporting and programme submissions, while maintaining effective working relationships and collaborating with project delivery teams to achieve best value.
* Degree qualified in quantity surveying, commercial management, or a related discipline, and chartered or working towards chartership (RICS or equivalent).
