Overview
Geo Environmental Consultant role at Tetra Tech. We are looking for a Ground Investigation Engineer to join our team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join an established and growing regional team, part of Tetra Tech’s 100 strong and expanding national geo-environmental resource. The team provides ground investigation and geo-environmental consultancy services for a broad range of private and public sector clients in the development, health, education, defence and infrastructure sectors. Your main duties and responsibilities will be to assist with the design, procurement, supervision and management of geotechnical and geo-environmental ground investigations and assessments.
The team delivers ground investigation, environmental due diligence, and geo-environmental consultancy services and collaborates with planning, environment and engineering teams to provide holistic solutions for clients.
Responsibilities
* Produce desk study assessments and the accurate collection of site data; produce detailed factual and interpretative reports; undertake ground gas and groundwater monitoring works and assessments.
* Assist with the design, procurement, supervision and management of geotechnical and geo-environmental ground investigations and assessments.
* Join a busy team delivering focused solutions for our growing client base, with emphasis on technical excellence, client care and effective project management.
* Collaborate with geo-environmental teams in other offices and with planning, environment and engineering teams to deliver holistic solutions to clients’ needs in these areas.
Key attributes, qualifications and experience
* Degree in geology, engineering geology or a relevant environmental science discipline. A Master’s degree is beneficial; you should also be working towards Chartership with a relevant body (e.g., CIWEM, IEMA or Geol Soc).
* Experience of ground investigation, including scoping, set-up, logging, supervision, laboratory scheduling, groundwater and ground gas monitoring and factual reporting.
* Willingness to travel for ground investigation works; at least 50% of the role will be site-based and may involve overnight stays. A full, preferably clean, driving license is required.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fully IT literate; ability to write clear, concise and technically robust reports.
* Good understanding of health, safety and environmental management as applied to ground investigation.
