A new opportunity has arisen to join the Supplier Quality Engineering team.
As a Supplier Development Engineer, youll support new product design, supplier development and project management activities with an immediate focus on our CMM and Industrial Automation product lines.
Responsibilities Working with Design teams to understand critical features and performance requirements Working with multiple GMSD functions to capture purchased item quality problem statements Conducting and recording external supplier visits to both develop and manage new/existing supply Working with Purchasing Buyers to identify and develop new suppliers and follow commodity strategies and mitigate future production supply risks Working with Goods-In Inspection functions to ensure incoming goods are managed and inspected Generating reports to present inspection or quality investigation findings Supporting and/or driving and project managing item development activities Identifying and communicating opportunities for improved process control and/or DFM-driven cost-down Ownership of departmental metrics and adhering to targets of defined strategic/profile projects Key requirements Degree level qualifications in an engineering/manufacturing discipline Professionalism, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with stakeholders Driven, self-motivated and willing to learn and contribute Desirable requirements Knowledge of engineering and inspection techniques and equipment Awareness of quality systems e.g.
ISO9001 Person specification You will need sound problem solving mindset and a logical approach to varied technical challenges.
You will need to be self-motivated and able to learn quickly, work independently and deliver with limited local support; as well as maintain a professional behaviour to interact with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Visiting suppliers is a key requirement so the individual must be prepared for some travel UK and abroad.
