Hours 37.5 Vacancy Type Permanent - Full Time Job Advert - Division Information To provide operational, clinical and expert quality improvement leadership across a defined service. The post-holder will act as a member of the site leadership teams and work closely with the Hospital Director to ensure high quality and safe services are delivered through both outstanding clinical care and by embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement. Responsibilities Operational Leadership Deputises for Hospital Director in their absence Overall responsibility for all clinical departments' performance and governance Oversight of site clinical staffing and ownership of clinical department budgets Ensures delivery of the highest level of clinical and therapeutic care together with ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and current legislation, meeting quality standards and delivering against quality performance indicators. Manages the delivery of the clinical services business plan ensuring the effective and efficient management and control of staffing budgets, materials and equipment. Promotes an effective working relationship across the multi-disciplinary teams. Responsible for ensuring that Ward Managers are using the e-Rostering system effectively and are rostering at least 12 weeks in advance. Reviews staffing on a daily basis ensuring compliance against the staffing ladders and relevant trends, under or over staffing and puts in place actions to remedy. Responsible for ensuring the staffing models are adhered to in the clinical services team maintaining safe staffing levels. As part of the Senior Management Team, this post-holder will carry out on-call duties as directed by the Hospital Director. Professional Leadership and Development Act as a professional lead and resource for all nursing and AHP staff within the service. Ensure nursing practice is in accordance with all relevant regulations, Codes of Practice, statutory guidelines and accepted best practice. Undertake professional investigations, as required, input into professional regulator referrals and monitor any restrictions of practice/development plans for clinicians who may be subject to any regulatory order. Provide professional advice and guidance for the nursing workforce, Managers and HR colleagues. Responsible for leading clinical forums and pro-actively represent the group, as agreed. Support clinicians with CPD including the requirements of re-evaluation. Ensure all clinicians have access to appropriate levels of clinical supervision and reflective practice. Work pro-actively and collaboratively with the Regional Associate Director of Nursing and with education providers on clinical learner placements, pre- and post-registration training and education. Overall responsibility for safe and competent nursing medicines management across the service. Responsibility for development and implementation of policies and procedures that relate to clinical practice. Work collaboratively with HR Colleagues and site leaders in recruitment and retention initiatives, where applicable. Continuous Quality Improvement Lead on and work closely with the Hospital Director in monitoring and embedding of a quality improvement culture throughout the service ensuring optimum quality of care and good regulatory outcomes. Lead on the development and implementation of the Site Improvement Plan. Act as Line Manager to the Associate Director of Clinical Services ensuring that they provide high quality support to the service. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company quality and policy requirements through auditing and quality walk-arounds. Develop the function of site-based quality colleagues to create greater local ownership and capability of the quality agenda. Oversee all activity related to the Divisional Audit Plan at the service. Create and present reports to the service Clinical Governance Committees in line with any agreed reporting schedule. Ensure the service is operating effective systems of Clinical Governance in line with the Divisional policy, fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement and building capability of site to work autonomously and sustain standards required. Knowledge / Education / Skills Must be registered with the NMC. A detailed understanding of statutory regulations is essential. Passionate about providing high quality care and continuous improvement. Demonstrated leadership and decision making skills essential. Forward thinking, proactive and creative. The ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment. High levels of integrity and boundaries. Experience Registered Nurse (RMN/RGN/RNLD) with at least five years post-registration experience. Significant previous experience in a senior nurse leadership role either in a hospital, residential or community-based setting. Must have specialist knowledge and experience in one or more the following areas: Acute Mental Health, Addictions, CAMHS, Eating Disorders. Communication The post-holder is required to have a clear and positive communication style both verbally and non-verbally; they will be required to provide written and verbal information in a succinct manner in a way that is understood by those that they are communicating with; they will need to provide information by email, but use this as a tool when appropriate and not as an alternative to face-to-face or verbal communication unless circumstances dictate this. Responsibility Leadership The post-holder has responsibility for the line management of the clinical leadership team across the service. Budgets & Equipment The post-holder is responsible for the efficient and effective use of clinical resources. Information Shared responsibility for the confidentiality, security and accuracy of patient records, data and information. Ensuring good quality patient documentation, which meets the Regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements.
