Freedom of Information and Data Protection Case Officer

This role is open to all applicants. However in line with Cornwall first principles, initial shortlisting will prioritise applicants from Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Integrated Care Board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
We have a team of staff working towards delivering requests for information under UK Data Protection Laws and under the Freedom of Information Act.
It is a busy role but the team are a good natured group of individuals who are friendly and supportive.
We will support some flexibility of working patterns which could include after a period of training a 4 day week with compressed hours or a 9 day fortnight (slightly longer shifts to support this). There is some flexibility to accommodate slightly reduced hours.
This post holder will be involved in all aspects of administration of the Freedom Of Information Act process supported by FOIA Practitioners within the Information Governance Team. The post holder will also work with a small team delivering against Data Protection legislation for the provision of personal records upon request to a mandated time period. The post holder will work with a number of clinical and non clinical IT systems which they will be trained to use.
Main duties of the job
To mainly manage requests made under Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulations to ensure the Trust is legislatively compliant.
To record all activity for FOI/EIR on Datix to ensure we have a well-documented chronology of the requests from their acknowledgment to formal written response.
To support the Disclosure Team when able in the delivery of in excess of 300 disclosure Subject Access requests a month, including Health Records and Human Resources files
To answer calls from requestors to assist with their enquires.
To concentrate for long periods to ensure accuracy of work as our work is all measured against legal compliance.

Person Specification

* Previous experience of working in an NHS organisation
* Knowledge of NHS IT systems
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent to include English and Maths
* Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative environment and working with computerised data systems
* Practical knowledge of Freedom of Information Act
* NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent qualification and experience
* Must be able to concentrate for long periods in a busy office environment
