The Foundation Instructor/Technician Role:
Instructor/technician to join our team and provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). As a Foundation Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing environment within our cafe setting where students can develop vocational skills, socialise, and gain confidence in their abilities. Your role will involve not only developing practical skills related to cafe operations but also providing individualised support to meet the unique needs of each student whilst also preparing them for the world of work through activities like sport and drama.
Responsibilities as our Foundation Instructor/technician will include:
Daily food orders and managing food deliveries.
Manage hygiene processes and procedures including daily food temperatures, fridge temperatures and completing relevant paperwork.
Manage stock rotation and complete weekly stock take.
Maintain equipment and all related maintenance issues.
Responsibility for cash handling and recording. Liaison with the cash office.
Support the teaching team with positive behaviour management strategies and follow up on student concerns.
Manage student behaviour within the agreed college protocols.
Work with the personal tutors, Learning Manager and other cross college departments to deliver high levels student satisfaction.
Run a range of practical sessions with students in activities like sport and drama.
As our Foundation Instructor/technician, you'll ideally have:
Level 2 qualification as a minimum
Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent)
Work experience in an FE setting i.e., college or school
Experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health challenges
Proven track record of success in supporting young people
The ability to work with young people, parents/carers and colleagues, as appropriate
Competent in Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of post-16 education and training
The effective use of information and learning technologies in the classroom Safeguarding Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults
Evidence of continuous professional development
