Engineering Shift Lead
Trafford Salary £59k + benefits
Full-time, 12hr shifts days and nights
We're looking for an Engineering Shift Lead to manage and develop our engineering shift team, ensuring maximum availability of production and support equipment. With a strong electrical bias, you'll lead a small team of engineers, drive performance, and play a key role in improving efficiency, reducing waste, and supporting site growth.

What you'll be doing
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 2 engineers.
Allocate tasks, review performance, and drive shift effectiveness.
Hold regular team meetings and 1:1s to build engagement.
Maintenance & Repair
Supervise and take part in planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults with a focus on safety and reliability.
Ensure accurate logging of maintenance activities and confirm equipment is safe post-repair.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement improvements to boost performance, OEE, and reliability.
Take part in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
Support lean manufacturing initiatives and optimise work plans.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure safe systems of work, risk assessments, and PTWs are followed at all times.
Keep up-to-date with electrical standards and health & safety regulations.
Act as first aider and lead by example in site safety and quality culture.
Projects, Reporting & Resources
Lead small to medium-sized engineering projects.
Work with other departments to deliver objectives on time and to budget.
Manage spare parts usage, contractor works, and support CMMS implementation.
Provide accurate documentation and reports to the Site Engineering Manager.
What we're looking for
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship (Electrical or Multi-Skilled).
ONC or BTEC equivalent (HNC desirable).
Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills.
Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Proficiency in maintenance management systems.
Knowledge of health & safety, GMP, and continuous improvement techniques.
Experience in performance setting, contractor management, and PTW systems.
