Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Climate Risks team within CFC’s Innovation division as a Carbon Underwriter. You will help build a specialised underwriting function that leverages our actuarial expertise and our own risk capital to stay ahead of the curve in the carbon market. In this role, you will shape new product offerings, structure complex transactions and partner closely with brokers to drive landmark carbon insurance deals that position CFC as an industry leader.

Responsibilities
* Underwriting responsibilities include maintaining a deep, up-to-date understanding of both compliance and voluntary carbon markets—from policy frameworks and registry processes to project lifecycles, credit types, funding mechanisms, trading activity and major market players.
* Cultivate strong relationships with broking partners providing timely indications and quotes and executing transactions that grow our gross written premium.
* Collaborate across the climate team to design bespoke yet repeatable risk transfer solutions for sophisticated clients such as investment funds, banks, private lenders, and trading houses.
* Represent CFC at key carbon industry conferences and events, identifying partnership opportunities and strengthening relationships with influential market participants.
* Champion our Carbon Lender Non-Payment Insurance product and broader climate solutions to financial institutions, expanding awareness and driving new business.
* Work closely with carbon team colleagues and broking partners to create bespoke solutions to address the needs of sophisticated counterparties such as investment funds, banks, private lenders and trading houses.
About you
You are a curious, with at least five years of London-market underwriting experience, ideally in credit or political risk who is genuinely passionate about the carbon, climate or sustainability sector and motivated to drive positive environmental impact through insurance.
You thrive under pressure and excel at translating complexity into simplicity for stakeholders. Knowledge of insurance placement processes, language & legalities, sufficient to engage with insurance and non-insurance partners with utmost confidence and control.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to build strong long-lasting relationships.
