TITLE: Senior Enterprise Architect
LOCATIONS:Edinburgh and Bristol
SALARY: £90,400 - £106,400
HOURS: Full time, 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN:Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites
About this opportunity:
We're currently seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect aligned to our Commercial Business Area. You’ll be experienced in building relationships and developing trust, providing thought leadership to business and technology change delivery colleagues, owning the technology strategy for your area of focus and maintaining alignment with and influencing the wider Group strategies. You'll be a confident individual, passionate about architecture and making a difference, able to build effective relationships at all levels (up to and including Executive level)

This is an opportunity for an Enterprise Architect who is enthusiastic about defining the strategic architecture for a business unit as well as working with their delivery teams to ensure designs are aligned with their vision.
In conjunction with the Commercial Platform owners and senior business partners across Commercial, they will build, evolve, and promote clear and comprehensive technology strategies that align with Group strategy and enable business teams to deliver the best customer outcomes. They are ultimately accountable for all architecture decisions, continually influencing, challenging, and supporting the Commercial teams to build and align to their strategic roadmaps, alongside acting as the voice of the customer and facing into all the Group Enabling Platforms to facilitate delivery of the business roadmaps.
Building and sustaining strong and productive partnerships with platforms and functions, promoting, communicating, and evangelising the Bank’s strategies. Understanding the Commercial banking industry, building relationships with relevant third party vendors and acting as a senior partner to help them evolve their products and services to better meet the needs and strategies of Commercial clients.
This is an agile environment working on challenging problems requiring dedication and leadership to help drive the transformation agenda. Working collaboratively and cultivating trust to get results.
What you’ll need
1. An open, collaborative, approachable and friendly style, working well colleagues at all levels, building strong relationships, and breaking down barriers.
2. An understanding of the Commercial business domain including key products and propositions, market trends (business and technology) and an awareness of the regulatory and competitor landscapes.
3. Gravitas and impact. You’ll use strong storytelling skills, both written and verbally, in how you present your communication recommendations in line with priorities.
4. Demonstrable experience of technology architecture, and how to architect systems to meet the business needs.
5. Broad technology knowledge across various topics including (but not limited to) domain driven models, microservices, event-driven design, hybrid cloud deployment models, cloud service provider technologies, devops, CI/CD, modern data paradigms, cyber security, resilience by design and sustainability.
6. Awareness of emerging technologies (e.g., Gen AI, Quantum computing) their maturity and strong understanding of their potential business application and consequences including how they align to long term strategy.
7. Communication and relationship building skills to work collaboratively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
8. Proven success in establishing a culture of continuous improvement and driving innovation.
9. You'll be a confident individual, passionate about architecture and making a difference, able to build effective relationships at all levels (up to and including Executive level), being a strong influencer.
10. You've worked in established complex organisations with large customer bases so have a good appreciation of the non-functional considerations and crafting systems accordingly.
11. Breadth of experience in architecture, in a regulated industry (ideally financial).
