Job Title: Program Director Location: Sheffield (3 days/week Onsite) Duration: 6months Banking Client Experience Required Job Overview: We are seeking a strategic and delivery-focused Program Director to lead large-scale transformation initiatives within the banking sector, focusing on IT infrastructure modernization, application transformation, and digital enablement. The role demands an expert who has successfully managed multi-million-pound programs, working with diverse stakeholders, delivering complex change, and driving enterprise-level outcomes in highly regulated environments. Key Responsibilities: Lead the end-to-end delivery of major transformation programs across infrastructure, cloud migration, and application modernization. Drive program strategy, planning, governance, and risk management aligned to business goals and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with CIOs, business heads, and senior stakeholders to define transformation roadmaps and key deliverables. Manage program budgets in excess of £20M, with full accountability for cost, scope, schedule, and quality. Oversee delivery teams including architects, engineers, vendors, and PMO teams to ensure milestone achievement and integration of all workstreams. Ensure transformation efforts enable business agility, reduce technical debt, and support future-state digital banking platforms. Engage with 3rd-party vendors, cloud providers, and SI partners for delivery assurance and contract management. Establish and report on KPIs, benefits realization, and post-implementation reviews. Required Skills & Experience: 15 years of experience in IT, with at least 7 years in program leadership of enterprise-scale transformation projects. Proven experience delivering in banking or financial services environments, preferably Tier-1 institutions. Demonstrated success leading IT infrastructure transformation, including data centers, networks, cloud, and end-user computing. Strong background in application modernization – legacy to cloud-native, containerization, or replatforming. Deep understanding of governance frameworks, regulatory compliance (e.g., FCA, PRA), and risk management. Strong financial acumen – capable of managing large budgets and making ROI-driven decisions. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – adept at influencing C-suite and managing resistance. Proficiency in Agile, SAFe, and traditional Waterfall methodologies.
