Position Title: Restorative Lead Practitioner Location: Hillingdon, AP Unit Contract Duration: Fixed-Term 12 Months Hours: 5 Hours per Day, 5 Days per Week (Term-Time, 39 Weeks) Day Rate: £100-£120 per day, depending on experience Reports to: AP Manager Overview This AP Unit is a leading provider of tailored educational support for students who have been excluded from mainstream education or are at risk of exclusion. Our mission is to provide a structured, supportive environment where students can rebuild their confidence, emotional resilience, and positive routines. The Restorative Development Programme is designed for Year 7–11 students facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The programme focuses on building students’ emotional resilience and positive routines, helping them re-engage with education and life. We use evidence-based practices, including restorative justice principles, to address mental health, trauma, and behavioural concerns. This AP unit offers a nurturing environment for vulnerable students to thrive academically and emotionally. We provide a range of services, including tailored learning pathways, emotional and personal growth support, and employability skills development. Key Responsibilities Deliver 1-1 and small group SEMH sessions tailored to the individual needs of students, addressing personal and academic challenges. Lead coaching and physical activity sessions, encouraging students to develop teamwork, resilience, and communication skills. Provide PSHE-based enrichment activities, focusing on personal development, mental health awareness, and emotional intelligence. Oversee daily breakfast sessions, offering a structured and positive start to the students’ day. Track student progress, providing weekly snapshots and detailed termly reports on students' emotional and academic development. Organise guest contributors and enrichment activities to expand students’ learning experiences and broaden their perspectives. Support the Parent/Carer Open Day, celebrating student achievements and fostering community involvement. Work closely with other staff, including tutors, coaches, and external professionals, to ensure the delivery of the programme meets the students’ needs. Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and attendance, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and confidentiality protocols. Provide consistent support to students, building positive routines and helping them develop coping mechanisms for the future. Emotional Resilience & Patience: Ability to manage challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism. Strong Communication Skills: Effective at engaging students, building trust, and creating a safe, supportive environment. Team-Oriented: Collaborative approach to working with staff, students, and external contributors. Organisation & Time Management: Ability to plan, deliver, and monitor sessions while managing multiple priorities. Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust methods based on individual student needs and progress. Positive Role Model: Demonstrates integrity, consistency, and a proactive approach to student welfare. Desired Skills & Qualifications Experience in Education or Youth Work: Previous experience working with students, particularly those with SEMH needs, in educational or youth settings. Coaching/Physical Activity Experience: Knowledge of coaching techniques or physical activity facilitation is highly desirable. Restorative Practice & SEMH Expertise: Understanding of restorative practices, SEMH support, and trauma-informed care. PSHE Curriculum Knowledge: Familiarity with the Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education curriculum. Relevant Qualifications: Background in education, psychology, youth work, or related fields. First Aid & Safeguarding Training: Current First Aid certification and safeguarding training (or willingness to complete).
