Role Overview
Position: 1:1 Tutor – Maths & English
Location: BA22 (Yeovil area)
Start Date: 30th March
Hours: Mondays, 9:30-11:30 (2 hours per week)
Rate: £20 – £35 per hour
Type: SEND / SEMH Support – relationship‑focused, low‑demand learning
You will be supporting a bright, creative young person who enjoys:
🐾 Cats
🤸 Trampolining
The young person has a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, and a PDA profile, alongside trauma-based and school-related anxiety.
He learns best in a calm, low-pressure setting with lots of choice, flexibility, and connection.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Providing 1:1 Maths & English tutoring
2. Creating a safe, predictable, relationship‑centred learning environment
3. Using low-demand, collaborative approaches suitable for PDA
4. Incorporating interests to enhance engagement
5. Adapting sessions depending on regulation and readiness
6. Allowing movement breaks and flexible structure
7. Building trust gradually through a nurturing, playful style

Prospero Teaching – Additional Opportunities in Dorset & Surrounding Areas
We are also recruiting multiple Tutors in Dorset, supporting young people with SEN / SEMH on a 1:1 basis.
As a Prospero Tutor, you will:
14. Plan and deliver engaging sessions tailored to each learner
15. Assess and monitor progress
16. Provide weekly feedback and progress reports
17. Record attendance
18. Build positive, trusting relationships
19. Use creativity, empathy, and patience to support re-engagement
About You:
20. Caring, patient, and understanding
21. Knowledgeable in the National Curriculum
22. Confident teaching English, Maths, or Science
23. Experienced supporting learners with SEND / SEMH
24. Organised, reliable, and adaptable
Essential Requirements
25. Minimum 1 year of experience working in UK schools
26. Experience supporting learners with SEN / SEMH
27. Right to work in the UK
28. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
29. Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to obtain)
30. Ability to provide references
